Recipients of Funding

The Children's Advocates Resource Endowment (C.A.R.E.) is a nonprofit organization serving the needs of Kern County's children since 1999. We raise money to provide grants to local charities that specialize in serving local children. 40% of proceeds from our events are used to fund grants while remaining 60% is placed into an endowment fund to meet the needs of children for many years to come.

100% of the money we raise is invested in children. Our community board of directors are all non-paid volunteers. Our board reviews every grant application to make sure organizations receiving funds apply 100% of the grant to the direct benefit of children and never on salaries or other administrative expenses. We base our grants on the needs of the community as a whole and the number of children to be served by each grant.

Through partnerships with companies such as Wal-Mart. We stretch our dollars even further by having our funds matched dollar per dollar to benefit even more children.

So what do we do with the money we raise?

Safety SeatsWe have delivered a truckload of high chairs for the Homeless Shelter for use in the dining hall and to provide to families transitioning to a permanent home. We have also delivered truckloads of child safety seats for distribution to families that cannot afford them.

PresentWe provide a wrapped Christmas present to every single child at the homeless shelter each year.

We built state-of-the are interview room approved by the California Judicial Council to interview abused children in the warm, friendly environment for use in court proceedings.
Computers
We have built computer labs, provided homework tables, and sponsored many specialized camps for impaired children, disabled children and children who have recently lost a parent who attend special bereavement camps.

These are very small examples of the miracles made possible through your sponsorship and support. Since our inception we have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars making Kern County a better place for our children.
