For the kids of Kern County

CareForKids.org was formed as a not-for-profit organization in the Spring of 1999, to raise money for local children’s charities. Each year, CareForKids.org places 60% of all money raised into an Endowment Fund, for the future of our children. The remaining 40% is awarded twice a year to local charities that specialize in children’s needs, where 100% of all proceeds will stay in Kern County, 100% will go directly to children’s needs, and 100% of the money will never go towards any administrative costs! Our board members carefully consider numerous requests for funding and award grants based on the number of children who will benefit and the needs of both the requesting organization and the community as a whole.

This is why we do it…

Teaching at risk kids about money

Junior Achievement

C.A.R.E. granted $4,800 to Junior Achievement to purchase 1250 money management learning kits for at-risk youth. These kits inspire kids living in poverty to break the cycle and teach them about saving money, using credit and managing money.

Bereavment Camp

Optimal Hospice Foundation

C.A.R.E. has granted more than $40,000 to Optimal Hospice Foundation since 2007 to fund an annual “bereavement camp” for children who have lost a parent during the past year. The summer places similar aged kids together and provides counseling.

Adoption Day Party

National Adoption Day

C.A.R.E. has granted more than $15,000 since 2008 to fund an annual National Adoption Day party each November. This is a celebration of the placement of foster kids into permanent, “forever” homes. About 30 foster children are adopted each year.
